Dave Washburn is a 1985 graduate of Village Christian High School where he was a 3 sport letterman in Football, Soccer and Track. Dave went on to play football at Northwestern College in Minnesota transferring after his Freshman year to Azusa Pacific he continued to play football and throw hammer for the track team. Graduating in 1989 with a BA in Psychology, Dave returned to Azusa to complete his Master’s degree in Education and School Counseling in 2002.
Before entering full time ministry with FCA Dave served the Lord in the field of Education for 18 years. He has taught math, PE, served as an assistant Athletic Director, Dean of Students and a school Counselor. Dave coached varsity football for 10 years along with track, soccer and strength and conditioning. He answered the call to full time ministry in 2007.
Dave his wife Suzanne and their 3 daughters live in Bakersfield, California and serve the students and coaches of Kern County. Dave currently oversees 18 huddles, leads 2 weekly coaches studies and works with coaches, students and community leaders to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to a hungry community. Kern County FCA has seen over 300 people come to a relationship with Jesus Christ and has distributed over 8,000 Bibles to coaches and Athletes since 2007.
Dave is passionate about camps and has been partnering with Hume Lake Christian Camps for several years. Kern County FCA and Hume Lake Camps run 3 football, 2 cross country, 2 women’s sports camps and a coach’s retreat annually. This partnership continues to expand into new sports and opportunities to build relationship with coaches and athletes and introduce them the great life changing adventure of knowing Jesus Christ.
