Western Region staff in attendance at the FCA national staff convention (Real Time) in Kansas City last weekend.  The staff were treated to great speakers, worship and down time to get to know each other better.

Western Region FCA has the wonderful opportunity to partner with a few sports specific FCA ministries including Cheerleading, Volleyball, Lacrosse and Hockey.  We wanted to introduce you to Marilou Braswell, the National Director of FCA Cheerleading.  Marilou has a passion for cheerleading and changing the lives of young women across the nation. Her bubbly personality and southern drawl instantly invite you to want to know more about her and her calling in life is summed up beautifully in her favorite quote: "Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders and says.... "Oh No....she's awake!!".

"According to USA Today, there were approximately four million cheerleaders in America in 2008. And each year, approximately 350,000 cheerleaders attend summer cheer camp. These figures alone illustrate the potential impact FCA Cheer can have on the lives of cheerleaders and coaches across the nation.

FCA Cheer unites individuals who share a passion for serving Christ with a passion for cheerleading. Our ministry makes an eternal difference for young girls by providing competitive cheer instruction at summer camps as well as Bible study huddles at gyms and schools. Throughout the year, girls are presented the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior and serving Him in their everyday lives.

FCA Cheer began with one camp at Vanguard University in 2006. After just five years, our ministry has touched the lives of more than 3,000 cheerleaders and coaches. Our journey has just begun and we look forward to seeing all God has in store."
